Enrique Serna

Enrique Serna was born in Mexico City in 1959. He studied Spanish literature and writes for the newspaper Uno más uno. He has published novels, a biography, essays and stories. La caverna encantada  is his first children's story.

He says, "As a child I learned to enjoy literature because I used to watch my mother read and it made me wonder why she loved books so much. I began to read when I was your age, and I have never stopped. My favorite books were the ones where children like me had wonderful adventures, but I also like science fiction and horror stories. At school they teach us that reading is an chore, but actually it's fun. Try it, and you'll see that reading a book can be more fun than watching television. I used to read so much that eventually I started wanting to making up my own stories. I picked up my pen and wrote my first story, La bóveda, which takes place in a matchbox! I have never written another fantasy since. La caverna encantada is my first children's story, but I think grownups will find it interesting, too. I hope it will inspire you to think and to dream".
