Hilda Perera

Hilda Perera was born in 1926 in Havana, Cuba. She began writing for both adults and children at a very early age. Her first book for children was published when she was only seventeen years old. Translated into eight languages, it has been called "a minor classic of children's literature."
El duende del mar shows the author's sensitivity and understanding of children. Through a delicate narrative, rich with real-world observations in the midst of a magical setting, Hilda Perera reveals her awareness of a child's world.

She lives in Miami, Florida, and has published more than twenty books for children, a number of which have won international prizes and awards.
