Ramón Díaz Eterovic

I was born in 1956 in Punto Arenas Chile, on the coast of the Straits of Magellan, sometimes called the southernmost point of the world. I lived there until the age of 17, when I moved to Santiago, where I still live. I have loved books, music, soccer and the sea ever since I was a boy. I began to write at a young age, and I have written books of poetry and stories, television scripts, and some ten novels.

My best known novels, of which I have written eight so far, are my Heredia novels. Heredia is a private detective who lives in Santiago. He likes to get involved in police cases and to search for the truth in his own way. His best friend is a fat white cat called Simenon.

The Heredia novels were intended for adults, but when my youngest children heard about the character, they asked me to write a Heredia story they could read. That was the begining of El secuestro de Benito (The Kidnapping of Benito).
