Francisco Gabilondo Soler (Cri-Cri )

Francisco Gabilondo Soler was born in 1907 in Orizaba, among the hills, the woods and the rain. Ever since he was a child he liked to learn and study, but not at school, so, on his own, he explored all the books he could. When he grew up he wanted to be a boxer and a bullfighter, but that was all more pain than gain. He became interested in astronomy and worked for free at the National Observatory.

Later by playing the piano, he became a composer, which doesn't pay very well, but is much more fun. .

At first he wrote songs like those of other composers until he remembered his childhood and what a great time that was. He worked hard at writing songs for children (and fine songs they were, too) and, from there, he went on to write a number of stories.

Some of those stories disappeared into the wind, others were lost, and some were kept. Cri-Cri paid more attention to the songs because they were stories with music, but what's left of his writing is still well worth reading! Francisco Gabilondo Soler left this world in 1991.
