Ernesto Cardenal

Ernesto Cardenal was born in 1925 in Granada, Nicaragua. At the age of forty he became a Catholic priest. His work is characterized by its simplicity and its intimate grasp of current issues and problems.

He was a leader in the Sandinista Liberation Front which fought dictatorship in Nicaragua and succeeded in freeing the country in the 1970's.
