Augusto Roa Bastos

Born in Asunción, Paraguay in 1918, Augusto Roa Bastos has lived in exile in Argentina for more than forty years because of his political beliefs. His poetry is strong and expressive, but he is also known for his prose; great novels and realistic stories, which combine fiction and history to comment on Paraguay's social and political problems.
